Graduation week begins at Lancaster
Today marks the first day of summer graduation week at Lancaster University, as students, staff and families gather to celebrate success.
More than 3,300 degrees will be conferred in person or in absentia over the next five days, during 15 ceremonies in the Great Hall.
Two outstanding individuals will receive Honorary Degrees, awarded to people with a recognised international standing in their field, and to those who have given special service in connection with the University or its regions.
A former Lancaster student will be given an Alumni Award, recognising Lancaster graduates who have made a substantial contribution in their field and have developed an outstanding reputation among their peers.
And an award-winning leader and entrepreneur is to be installed into the Chancellor’s College of Benefactors. This is the highest honour the University can bestow upon its supporters, and is a way to give greater recognition to organisations and individuals whose contributions have been truly transformational.
