Royal Economic Society honour for Lancaster Professor Bruce Hollingsworth

Professor of Health Economics Bruce Hollingsworth has been appointed a Founding Fellow of the Royal Economic Society.
Founding Fellow is the Royal Economic Society’s highest level of membership and is granted to those who have made a significant contribution to the discipline. In his appointment, particular mention was made of his work in the area of training, developing and mentoring the next generation of economists and his service to the discipline at a national and international level.
Professor Hollingsworth said: “I am very grateful to be recognised in such a way by the Royal Economic Society and I look forward to working with the Society in furthering the understanding of Economics, and particularly Health Economics, at a time of great change in this area”.
The judging panel was chaired by Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides who said: "Through their applications our new Fellows demonstrated the impact they have made not just in their roles, but to the wider economics profession. We congratulate them and look forward to working with them to advance the RES vision: that economics be understood, advanced and applied for the good of society and the world around us.”
The Royal Economic Society (RES) is the professional membership body and learned society for the study and application of economics. The RES has been at the forefront of advancing economic knowledge globally since 1890 and has been foundational in building capability and excellence in the profession.
