Students and Alumni Enjoy Careers Connect

Students and Alumni Enjoy Careers Connect -

Careers Connect Event - March 2013

Management School (LUMS) alumni and placement students explored the value of networking at a recent event in London

Attendees were welcomed to the event by Louise Briggs, Head of Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations. Lancaster MBA alumnus Fredrik Sandvall then engaged the audience with a presentation sharing insights into the skills required for successful networking and professional conversations. Fredrik, who is now Principal Consultant at SBR Consulting, spoke from experience and gave some useful advice such as to “be interested not interesting” which attendees could then implement as they went on to practise networking and enjoy conversation with the wide range of other students and alumni at the event.

Alumni were also given the opportunity for 1-1 CV advice through sessions run throughout the evening by Louise Briggs and by Rory Daly, Placement, Internship & Projects Officer.

Louise said: “It was great to hear the positive feedback given by attendees at this event. Supporting the career development of our students and alumni is a key priority for LUMS, and we look forward to continuing our work with the Lancaster University Alumni@London group to promote further social, networking and learning opportunities for our community in London.”
