Join us to hear about the hidden changes beneath our feet, the search to understand the composition of dark matter, and how by looking back in time through telescopes we can understand the evolution of the Universe.

In 2021, we are bringing together the Faculty Annual Conference and Public Lecture Series with a week of talks and activities. Our theme is "change", recognising that all our lives have been changed dramatically and that in its many forms, science will help shape the changes still to come.

This session will feature talks from colleagues from our partner Sunway University, the Lancaster Environment Centre and Physics and the LUniverse Virtual Planetarium.

  • Professor Mohamed Kheireddine Aroua, "Clean water to all through membrane technology - from the lab to the community"
  • Dr Victoria Janes-Bassett, "The hidden change below our feet – how can models and data science help us uncover the long-term impacts of humans on our soils?"
  • Dr Edward Laird, "Using quantum technology to search for dark matter"
  • Dr Julie Wardlow, "Through the looking glass: using the world's biggest telescopes to understand the evolving Universe"
  • LUniverse Virtual Planetarium, "Our changing night sky"
