There are a wide range of opportunities to support your professional and career development, mapped to Vitae's Researcher Development Framework.

Lancaster's is a signatory to the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers providing researchers with an entitlement to 10 development days a year (pro-rata). This page details some of the opportunities that can be included as part of the development days, other opportunities will be offered by your department/faculty. The Researcher 10 development days guidance provides information on how to make the most of these development days.

In recognition of its commitment to the Concordat, Lancaster has been awarded the HR Excellence in Research badge since 2011. More information is on the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers webpage.

  • Grant Writing Development Programme

    This programme supports you from your intial idea through to writing your grant application, signposting you to the support available through the Research Support Office and other teams and colleagues.

  • Researcher Career Development

    Find support for your career development through Prosper and LinkedIn and resources for writing a narrative CV. Information about forthcoming Career Development Sessions will be posted once details available.

  • Research Integrity and Ethics

    Lancaster has invested in sector-leading courses in Research Integrity and Ethical Research. For some researchers these are mandatory, but all researchers would benefit from browsing and selecting topics of relevance.

  • Open Research

    The library provides a range of training sessions, guidance and online self-guided resources, including on Open Access, Data Management, Research Intelligence and Responsible Research Assessment.

  • Leadership and Management

    Organisational Development (OD) run workshops and programmes covering Leadership, Management, PI Development and Project Management

  • Doctoral Supervision

    The Curriculum and Education Development Academy (CEDA) offers workshops to support the building, management and maintance of effectice student-supervisor relations, using the UKCGE framework.

  • Coaching and Mentoring

    Resources to help develop mentoring relationships, how to access the internal coaching bank and information about the Cross-Institutional Mid-Career Mentoring Programme

  • Engagement and Impact

    The Engagement Portal, Research Impact online courses and contact details for further support
