The Lancaster Bursary offers support to students from lower-income backgrounds throughout their studies.

Who is eligible?

You will qualify for this bursary, of £1,000, in each year of your studies if you:

  • are an undergraduate applicant who meets eligibility for UK Government funding support, and your application to Student Finance/SAAS has been income-assessed
  • you have a household income of less than £35,000

How to apply

There is no separate application process for the Lancaster Bursary. Eligible students will be identified automatically after you have started your course.

Combining awards

If you meet the eligibility criteria for the Lancaster Bursary Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – Home , you can combine it with the Lancaster Bursary.

Payment of the bursary

Around mid-October, after registration, eligible students will receive an email to confirm the details of the award, including the payment dates and how the award will be paid.

The award will be worth £1,000 and will be paid in two equal instalments in each year of studies, if the assessed household income remains under the threshold of £35,000.

  • This bursary is subject to approval from the Office for Students (OfS).
  • The bursary is available across all our full-time undergraduate degree programmes offered fully on campus at Lancaster University's Bailrigg campus.
  • The Lancaster Bursary is available to all full-time Home fee-paying applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.
  • You are not eligible to receive the Lancaster Bursary for any repeated years of study.

Lancaster University reserves the right to withdraw this bursary if award holders are subsequently found to be ineligible or if the terms and conditions of the bursary are not adhered to.
