The thing I enjoyed most about Lancaster has been the environment. It always gives me a calm and comfortable feeling. I love to walk along the woodland trail whenever I’m stressed out and it’s always pleasant for me to grab a coffee and have a chat with my friends while sitting outside the grassland near the sports centre.

Lancaster is an inclusive and supportive community for students from different cultural and social backgrounds, which the university has provided lots of different opportunities for us as international students to get involved in student organizations, social events, and cultural activities which connected me with other students from a similar background, which helped me to adjust into the life here and feel less isolated.

Finding your community

At Lancaster, there are plenty of opportunities to find your people. You'll have a ready-made community in your college and plenty of opportunities to meet others through the hundreds of societies. Lancaster's Hong Kong society is a great place to start. With regular socials, an annual variety show and networking events it's a great place to connect with other Hong Kongers at Lancaster.

The careers support at Lancaster was very unique, I felt they really cared about my future. I wanted to return home after I graduated and the careers team were able to help me access some networking events which actually helped me secure a graduate job I am very happy with.

Austin Cheung

Austin Cheung- BSc Business Management

I had the opportunity to be the president of the Hong Kong Society at Lancaster University. As well as being a moment of pride to help establish a community of students it also helped me with my career. Sophia Au

Success for Sophia

Sophia Au graduated with a BSc in Marketing and is a Wealth Management Director at FTLife, one of the largest life insurance companies in Hong Kong.

“Being at Lancaster means that you have lots of opportunities open to you, both as part of your studies and outside of your academic career. I worked for a manufacturing company in my third year, helping to conduct market research on their new product launch. This was a great experience of working in western culture, which is so different from Asian culture, and learned about the core values of professionalism and work-life balance.”
