Interested in media and culture, but also in film, marketing, sociology, politics or history? One of the unique aspects of taking a degree at Lancaster is the flexibility you have to choose the subjects that will make up your degree.
This flexibility applies not only to the modules that you can choose within your degree scheme, but also the structure of your course, particularly in the first year. If you are taking Media and Cultural Studies as a single major degree, then in your first year your courses would include:
- Transformations: From Mass Media to Social Media (full year module)
- An option of your choice inside or outside of the Department (full year module)
- An option of your choice inside or outside of the Department (full year module)
If you are taking Media and Cultural Studies as a joint major degree with Film, then in your first year your courses would include:
- Transformations: From Mass Media to Social Media (full year module)
- Introduction to Film Studies (full year module)
- An option of your choice inside or outside of the Department (full year module)
Whilst you will decide upon your degree or joint degree when applying for university, you don’t have to decide upon any further optional courses until after you arrive on campus to study. After successfully completing your first year, you can then choose which subjects to continue and which to drop.
