Complete your online induction training

Before you start your programme, you will need to complete Lancaster’s pre-arrival online induction courses designed to prepare you for university life.

As part of becoming a registered student at the University, you are asked to complete a range of online courses to help you settle in and understand what makes Lancaster special.

What you need to do

Access your training

  1. Complete your university registration to get your IT login details
  2. Visit the Induction Training page within the Portal
  3. Start your training modules at your own pace

Required training modules

Tackling Harassment and Sexual Misconduct (required)

Creating a safe, respectful environment is important to all of us at Lancaster. This training will help you understand how to support yourself and others in the University community. You will learn:

  • How to recognise different types of harassment and misconduct
  • Ways to safely help when you see concerning behaviour
  • How to access support if you need it
  • Understanding consent in relationships

What: Seven online modules covering our community values and expectations

When: After you've registered but before you arrive at university

Length: About 2 hours 30 minutes total - you can break this training into smaller sessions by saving your progress and returning anytime.

Preparing for Lancaster (required)

Starting university is a big step, and we want to help you feel ready. This course covers everything from making friends to academic skills, wellbeing tips and life skills. Think of it as your personal guide to Lancaster life.

This course is designed to give ALL students an understanding of university life, whether you are living on campus or learning online. You will find practical information to help you prepare for studying, as well as resources to support your success at university.

Freedom of Speech Training (required)

The Office for Students requires the University to make available to all staff and students induction material giving them an up-to-date understanding of freedom of speech and academic freedom. This introductory module provides staff and students with a helpful overview
