Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) including dyslexia

Many students at Lancaster University with a declared disability have a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) such as dyslexia. This information is for students who have or suspect they may have a SpLD.

Diagnosis

Unsure if you may have an SpLD?

If you have not been formally diagnosed and would like to be assessed, we can help arrange this:

Assessment with an Educational Psychologist
A full assessment report from a suitably qualified assessor of SpLD or an Educational Psychologist will be required in order for you to get any study support at university as a result of an SpLD. It will also be required for any application for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA.) We work with an external Educational Psychology to offer diagnostic assessment appointments on the Lancaster campus. Appointments last for approximately an hour and a half. As a registered Lancaster University student, the University may be able to subsidise the cost of your assessment. The cost is subject to change. If you decide you would like a full diagnostic assessment, please email the Disability and Inclusive Practice Service for details of current costs and booking procedure.
