As part of the Eden Project North, a teddy bear named Eden Bear paid us a visit. Over 10 days the children took the bear exploring, showing Eden Bear around campus and the local area.

“I found the hotel first and then we went along and found the Life boat station. The Clock tower was so tall"

Out and about over the Spring holidays

To encourage the children and their families to visit and explore the area we designed a Treasure hunt for over the Spring holiday. They were tasked with finding various landmarks. The sun shone brightly and our beautiful bay formed the backdrop for many family adventures.

Some children travelled by train and bus, showing Eden Bear their tickets along the way as they navigated their way to all the landmarks, including the Clock Tower, Eric Morecambe memorial statue and the life guard station. The children were eager to tell Eden Bear all about the treasure hunt and what they had seen.

Orienteering Campus

We then asked the children, what they thought Eden Bear would like to do at Pre-School, they decided it would be good idea to take him on an adventure around Campus.

The children are confident in our University grounds and are able to navigate journeys using the wayfinding signage dotted around Campus. Finding Pre-School on the maps helps us find our bearings. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful place to explore and utilise. With chickens and bees down at the Eco-hub, the Woodland nature trail, Lake Carter and much more, the Campus is a rich and diverse learning environment.

Lunch Time Teddy!

The children then invited Eden Bear to share a lunch, mealtimes are an important social aspect of our day. They decided that as they weren’t sure if Eden Bear was a vegetarian or not it would be best to choose the Butternut squash and chickpea korma.

The visit has been beneficial in so many ways and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, it’s been a wonderful opportunity to introduce the Morecambe Bay curriculum and ensure our future generations are able to take part and make a difference.
