In this module, you will explore how businesses operate across borders and navigate the challenges and opportunities of the global economy. You will learn how and why firms internationalise, compete and adapt to different national and regional environments. You will learn how firms make key strategic decisions in a complex, interconnected world.
We will introduce you to core international business theories and frameworks to help you understand how firms choose where and how to enter new markets and how they manage operations across diverse cultural, political and economic contexts. You will also examine how global shifts such as geopolitical tensions, technological changes and sustainability concerns are reshaping international business today.
Through case studies and interactive sessions, you will develop the skills to critically assess global strategies and make informed decisions in international settings. By the end of the module, you will have the tools to understand and evaluate the strategic and operational challenges faced by firms managing global business activities and the confidence to apply these insights in your future career.

You will study how policymakers can create markets to achieve particular societal objectives, like improving environmental quality. You will also examine the role of competition authorities in shaping market outcomes. Finally, you will gain insight into econometric techniques used to estimate the relationships discussed throughout the module.
By the end of the module, you will be able to apply economic thinking to managerial decisions and gain insights into how firms operate and compete.
This module examines how artificial intelligence is transforming the world of work, reshaping organisations, and redefining what it means to manage. You will explore how AI is reconfiguring work, changing jobs, decision-making, and organisational practices.
Using real-world examples of human-AI collaboration, you will investigate how workforce demands are changing in the age of machine learning and digital technologies. The module will then consider the essential challenge: How can managers navigate these transitions strategically, ethically, and effectively?
Alongside practical frameworks for managing AI-driven change, we will debate deeper questions about the future of meaningful work: what happens when machines create, decide, or even lead? How can organisations maintain purpose and cohesion in increasingly automated environments?
Designed for future managers and decision-makers, this module will equip you with critical awareness, analytical tools and applied insights to engage confidently with the challenges and opportunities AI poses for contemporary management and organisational life.

In this module, you will develop your moral sensibility and practical reasoning in the context of everyday managerial action. Rather than focusing on abstract codes or ethical principles, this module emphasises morality as it happens in real life at the societal, organisational and individual levels.
You will explore how ethics in practice is often complex, diffuse and difficult to pin down. Managers and employees are expected to take responsibility and 'work it out' for themselves. This module keeps the process of 'how to work it out' at its core.
You will learn to identify and evaluate people-management dilemmas, gaining deeper insights into:
ethical organisational culture
positive team dynamics
responsible individual behaviour.
Through a series of case studies, you will develop your ability to recognise ethical issues, reflect on them thoughtfully and respond morally appropriately as part of your organisational role.
