We encourage disciplinary, interdisciplinary and innovative research proposals across the broad field of Politics. Our academic expertise spans:

We are particularly interested in projects that explore contemporary political challenges through creative, critical and engaged forms of research.
As a doctoral researcher, you will engage critically with these challenges and produce original research that advances both scholarly understanding and public debate.
How will my PhD in Politics be structured?
Throughout your degree, you will work closely with expert supervisors to develop and refine an original research project that makes a significant contribution to knowledge. During the initial stage of study, you will strengthen your theoretical and methodological expertise, deepen your engagement with relevant scholarship, and establish the foundations of your research.
Following successful progression, you will undertake original research that contributes new knowledge and perspectives to your chosen field, culminating in an MPhil thesis or a longer PhD thesis. Advice and guidance will be given by your supervisor as to the specific format of your award.
