Introduction

BSc Business Management (International Dual Degree) will fully immerse you in two different cultures, learning environments, business areas and languages. The first two years of your degree, spent at Lancaster, will give you a comprehensive introduction to all areas of modern business, drawing on expertise from across the Management School.

You will then spend year three and the first part of year four of your course taking business and management modules at our partner, the prestigious ICADE Business School in Madrid, Spain, where you will be taught in English or Spanish, depending on your language skills.

Why study the Business Management dual degree?

Our BSc in Business Management (International Dual Degree) immerses you in the exciting world of business and management: managing people and business organisations, marketing and economics, financial decision-making, international business, big data, digital technologies, and more, combined with international business experience.

You will graduate with two full degrees: one from Lancaster University and one from ICADE Business School.

Earning two degrees gives you a considerable advantage in starting your career; your experience will be broader, and your experience of work, through the programme’s integrated paid summer work placement, means that you will have a better idea of the direction you want to take.

Through being taught by academic experts in business analytics, finance, accounting, management, organisation and work theory, data analysis, economics and marketing, your first two years of study will expose you to the full spectrum of functions found in any business or organisation. This holistic, interdisciplinary approach also equips you for success in your summer work placement, where you will have a strong understanding of all parts of the business and apply your learning in the real world.

How is the Business Management dual degree structured?

Your first year - setting the foundations: You will explore the fundamentals of management and discover how businesses are organised, managed and operate in contemporary economies. You will experience how marketing and entrepreneurial creativity generate new ideas for products and services. You will learn how financial information and data provide powerful insights that drive business decision-making.

Your second year - delving deeper: You will increase your mastery of management in key areas. You will explore further how the complex forces of international commerce and international business shape the global marketplace. You’ll discover advanced aspects of marketing strategies and tools to navigate today’s fast-paced market landscapes. Year two will address the vital role people play in shaping successful organisations and business strategies by revealing how organisations can unlock their creative power. You’ll learn to master recruitment, employability, and talent development. The course will draw on cutting-edge research to equip you with the tools to navigate complex workplace challenges by examining key topics such as organisational culture, business ethics, digital technologies, and change management.

You will spend your third year in Spain at ICADE Business School, one of our global partner universities, developing your international outlook and cultural intelligence, whilst studying Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility, and other modules in business and management.

You will take a summer work placement as part of your course, where you will be able to apply the skills you have learned in your course so far.

Your final year - bringing it all together: All the aspects of your course will be integrated into a bigger picture to explore your future as a manager and executive in a complex world.

For the first half of your final year, you will remain in Spain and undertake your dissertation module.

You will then return to Lancaster to complete your final year. You will explore business strategy and strategic challenges faced by business and management today: globalisation, sustainability, technological developments, and evolving workforce dynamics.

This course will develop your creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking and inspire you to become a forward-thinking leader ready to tackle the complexities of 21st-century business and management. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with peers, academics, industry experts, and guest speakers. You will gain invaluable networking opportunities and experiences that will set you apart in the competitive business landscape.
